<p>The 112th FS currently operates as the group's flying unit and has had the F-16C assigned since February 1992. Another unit born during World War I, the squadron was mobilized for war service from November 1940 to August 1945. The unit was federally recognized in December 1946 as the 112th Bombardment Squadron with A-26Bs at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. The 112th was called back to active duty from October 1950 until March 1952, becoming the 112th Fighter-Bomber Squadron with F-51Hs at Berea Airport. Shortly afterwards the unit moved to Akron-Canton Airport and changed designation to a Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. It moved temporarily to Toledo Municipal Airport with a mix of T-28As, T-33As and a few F-84Es, before finally relocating to Toledo-Express Airport in January 1959 and completing the transition to F-84Fs as a Tactical Fighter Squadron. The unit was activated between October 1961 and August 1962 but remained at its home base. The 112th TFS converted to the F-100D in October 1970, and to the A-7D during the summer of 1979.
